just to finish [or start, depending on the reader’s perspective], I want to mention a book recently published from Jan Blensdorf: My name is Sei Shonagon. shortly to mention, Jan was born in Australia and she went to live for a while in Japan, where she had this Japanese taste so fine that she could deal with the making of this her novel. My name is Sei Shonagon is the story of a woman who stands still with the enchantment of tradition and the value of the speech as a mean to spread comprehension and humanity.

it pictures sharply the Japanese society, their modernity faced with tradition, it shows how a Japanese-American woman reencounters herself in a contemporary world. a very short novel, that is available in english of course as well as in spanish and many other languages.
